Suicide Prevention Programs

If you or someone you know is considering suicide,
please contact the
National Suicide Hotline (800-273-8255).

The suicide prevention and intervention programs listed below have been evaluated and deemed evidence-based (“Best Practice") by the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs & Practices.  Evidence-based indicates that the programs have been scientifically evaluated and found to produce reliable and effective improvement in the problems addressed.

The evidence-based program reviews describe the program, risk and protective factors address, target population and costs in non-scientific jargon.  The aim of the reviews is to help suicide prevention practitioners select the best suicide prevention program for their needs.  If you have questions about any of the programs described below, please submit them using the Comments link to the left.

If there are other target groups or intervention types for which you would like more information, please send them by using the Comments link to the left.
