Proposed DSM-5 expands suicide risk factors, clarifies clinical definition

The American Psychiatric Association (APA) posted the draft of the Diagnostic Statiscal Manual Version 5.  As described in the link below, changes related to suicide include an expanded list of medical, mental health and social risk factors and indicators and a clearer clinical definition of suicide and risk for suicide.  A new clinical suicide assessmment methodology is discussed, replacing yes-no probing items with rating scales to collect richer information.
